2009 Minister's Awards for Excellence in Aged Care

The Minister’s Awards recognise and foster innovation in quality service provision and staff development, recruitment and retention in the aged care sector. The Awards are generally held every two years and are advertised in the national press.

The Minister for Ageing, the Hon Justine Elliot MP, announced the 2009 Award winners on 3 December 2009, at HammondCare’s Southwood facility, winner of the ‘Innovation in Staff Recruitment and Retention’ in the residential category. The 2009 Awards were highly competitive with more than 120 nominations received.

The twelve winners of the 2009 Awards were drawn from a diverse range of aged and community care providers leading the way in innovative work practices, benefiting residents, staff and management. A copy of the Minister’s media release is available at http://www.health.gov.au/internet/ministers/publishing.nsf/Content/mr-yr09-je-je134.htm?OpenDocument&yr=2009&mth=12.

Planning for the next Minister’s Awards has not yet commenced, however, the aged care sector will be informed via a media release and fax stream to approved providers of aged care services. Details will also be made available on this website.
